Blaming God For Our Setbacks….

church-Prayer.jpg“Can a doctor force himself on a patient who

does NOT believe in him or does not seek his help?”

I have once lived a life of ignorance – a life of not knowing the reasons why things were happening to me the way I did not want them to and what I should do to “rescue” myself. Then, I was like a feather being tossed to and fro. To me then, every bad thing that happened to me was the hand work of God and His fault. To me, God MUST take care of me, no matter what. So, I blamed God for all the unpleasant things that happened to me. My sins were immaterial and whether I prayed or not was immaterial. Whether I was a child of God was also immaterial. God was supposed to  know when I needed help, and He should have helped me out. I relied so much on God’s amazing grace. So, GOD must be blamed for all the bad things that happened to me.

Now I know better. Now I  know God is not wicked. Now I know that even with His grace, I had to ask GOD to step into my problems whenever they reared their disgusting head….

“Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake.  And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell asleep:and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying,Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one  to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” (Luke 8:22-25)

Then I asked “what would have happened if our Lord was not called upon to intervene. Someone would have asked: “how come Jesus did not know that a ship wreck was about to occur?” Another would have asked: “did the disciples need to call upon our Lord Jesus to avert the impending disaster? Yet another would have asked: “are the disciples supposed to have problems with Jesus in the ship?”  A typical question people ask these days.

Hmnnn…What I learnt from this is simple…

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;

knock and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;

and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matt 7:7)

Sadly, this tend to be our attitude – being so quick to point accusing fingers towards God at the slightest setback we suffer. In fact, the interesting aspect of it all is that those who have openly rejected God are even faster to make this accusation.

I have also come to terms with the fact that these accusations are also the result of  not being aware of some of the principles of prayers which I shared in my post “God does not answer prayers!!!???”

One thing that is common among human beings is that it is convenient to shift blames rather than identify the route cause of problems. One big mistake however, that I feel a human being can make is to ascribe INCOMPETENCE, INABILITY, FORGETFULNESS, WEAKNESS, LOSS OF POTENCY or LIES to God !!!

Yes, there may be delays, but the delays are never because of INCOMPETENCE, INABILITY, FORGETFULNESS, WEAKNESS, LOSS OF POTENCY or because he has started telling LIES !!! …..

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time,

but at the end it shall speak,

and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it;

because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”- (Hab 2:3)

and…..

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man,

that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it?

or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” – Num 23:19

Thus, in all cases, a self-searching is needed. The refusal to do this, subjects people to the antics and wickedness of the devil  and his disciples. However, some people, including my humble self,  have refused to allow the devil to use them like a ping pong ball or toss them around like feathers.

So, pal, I leave you with this testimony that I love a lot….

“And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years,

came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

For she said within herself, ‘If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.’

But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter,

be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.

And the woman was made whole from that hour.” (Matt 9: 19-22)

So, pray without ceasing; do not be tied; the battle is only lost when you give up hope and do nothing; discover the barriers to answered prayers so that you can be a strong prayer warrior; read and strengthen yourself with testimonies of the power of GODbe comforted by the extra ordinary display of God’s power at the Red Sea; shun views that tend to discourage you from getting closer to God, read your Bible as much as you can and discover the secrets of a sweet relationship with God….but in all, and most importantly, STOP BLAMING GOD !!!

God bless us all an thanks for your time

Dedication : This post is dedicated to my good friend Shaun, as promised. God bless you dear friend. I hope this post serves the purpose for which it is meant 🙂

  1. You forget to add that the reason why Jesus didn’t wake was because he expected his disciples to trust Him enough that they will get through the storm. Also he needed to show then that faith is the answer in all things. Love the post. It was what I needed today as well.

    • Hii Shantier 🙂 Your visit always inspire me 🙂 Thanks a lot for that powerful observation. Indeed, tests of FAITH and TRUST are major issues here. And these are two of the major factors why people end up pointing accusing fingers at our Most High God.

Once more thanks for your ever powerful, inspiring and very useful comment.

How’re you doing? And how’s your family? God bless you real good and do have a splendin day dear sister 🙂

      • Yes! Sometimes you have to learn the heard way! The most important thing is that a lesson is learned and can be applied to our daily lives. Sometimes it may require fasting but in the end, we are all better for it.

My family is doing well. Thank you for asking. I am actually thinking of going to bible college at the suggestion of my dad. I think the Lord is telling me something!

May God continue to bless you!

      • You are very true about the fact that “the most important thing is that a lesson is learned and can be applied to our daily lives.” I have some experiences here.

Good to know your family is doing well 🙂 Bible College is a good idea. But you have to be sure of what you heard. I wish God’s direction sis. 🙂

  2. Why, thank you 🙂
I think you perhaps lost me in translation? I truly appreciate the post.
I sometimes do posts like this here: http://prayingforoneday.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/thing-i-am-thankful-for-no-pain-for-a-second-things-i-am-happy-for/
I have all the above because I choose to have them, I choose to life that life. I made the choice to be a wonderful happy person. I am the most blessed man on Earth for what I have.
This is my Family here Michael. http://prayingforoneday.wordpress.com/about-2/

This was done through hard work and dedication.
I just happen to have a condition I have had for 15 years, it is getting worse. I have prayed for 15 years and the pain has got worse. I truly thank you for the blog and I understand you are trying to help. But I am a truly blessed man Michael, I just have had days, and when I do, I blog them. I don’t blame Got for my life, I don’t thank God for my life. The life I created for myself was one of choice. I sent you this blog here: It was Gues Blog: http://deliberatedonkey.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/murder-and-more-through-the-eyes-of-a-child/ All the things in that blog I was FORCED to see through actions of others. I ask where was God when I was 5 years old? When I seen woman getting raped and men get almost killed? Serious Question. I do believe in “A God” I don’t understand Religion and I have a real hard time believing Jesus did the things it is said he did.
Does that make me a bad person?
I speak to a Bishop and a Pastor a lot, and I tell them my story. And they are Gentle and give back love and a caring nature. I said this once and someone unfollowed me. If someone unfollows me because I think

“I do believe in “A God” I don’t understand Religion and I have a real hard time believing Jesus did the things it is said he did”

Then that gives me a REAL hard time believing in people who have God in their Heart. Nobody with love would dislike a person who has not found his or her true path in life. If they do, for me, that is Anti-God, non-love. I am not saying you will, I am just stating I can’t see where God is or can help me Michael. I am very happy you have found salvation. I was 40 years old last Tuesday, I have had this pain since I was 18 years old. So for 22 years, I have suffered. This isn’t Gods fault, my body has an illness due to “Life” But if I was to believe in God more, could I say “God made me sore, or is keeping me sore?” I AM NOT SAYING THIS..I am asking if I could..

I have a very hard time believing God can help me. I have done 705 blogs here on Word Press and in say 100 I have spoken of my pain.

    Today I did these:

The question I have is, at what point does God come into the equation? What can we thank him for, but never blame him for. Why can we not blame got for things? But only thank him for things?

Please, Michael, I am ASKING you to answer as many of these questions as you possibly can, Especially the last one. Why we can only thank God, and never blame him. Who do I blame my suffering on? Who do I blame for what I seen as a child? The answer for me is, nobody. There is no blame.
But I can’t thank God for a good day, then not blame him for a bad Day.
I am a man of Science also Michael, logic and reason have to come into play.

Good things happen – We thank God.
Bad things happen – We blame “Life”

Any help would be more helpful again.

    Thank you for the blog.

    • Hii Shaun 🙂 I hope the following response will help you :

      (1) “I don’t thank God for my life” …

Your life is in the hands of God bro…. “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” – (James 4:13-15)

      (2) “I ask where was God when I was 5 years old? When I seen woman getting raped and men get almost killed? ” …..

God has no hand in the rape…..”The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” – (Jhn 10:10)…and GOD is not evil and WOULD NEVER BE !!! – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – (Jere 29:11)

      (3) “… I have a real hard time believing Jesus did the things it is said he did.”….
Shaun if you belief what you read on the internet, which you did not witness, why are you finding it so hard to belief what our Lord Jesus did. If you do not belief what you heard or read, what about all that you have read from my blog…….

“Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.” – (Matt 16:1-4)

      (4) “Then that gives me a REAL hard time believing in people who have God in their Heart. Nobody with love would dislike a person who has not found his or her true path in life.”………

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.” – (Matt 7:15-16)

(5)”I am just stating I can’t see where God is or can help me “……

“Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?” – (Gen 17:17) ….. “For Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.” – (Gen 17:17)… SEE MY “INSPIRATION CATEGORY” FOR OTHER TESTIMONIES

      (6) “But if I was to believe in God more, could I say “God made me sore, or is keeping me sore?” I AM NOT SAYING THIS..I am asking if I could.. ”

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” – (Jhn 10:10)…and GOD is not evil and WOULD NEVER BE !!! – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – (Jere 29:11)

      (7) “What can we thank him for, but never blame him for. Why can we not blame God for things? But only thank him for things?”……

‘In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – (1Thessa 5:18)

      (8) “But I can’t thank God for a good day, then not blame him for a bad Day.”…..

“When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him – and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” – Luke 17:14-19……

Belief it or not, GOD HAS NO HAND IN ANYBODY’S BAD DAY SHAUN !!!

      (9) “I am a man of Science also Michael, logic and reason have to come into play.” – complete trust in logic and science ruined the Titanic and some of the lives that were in it Shaun

      (10) “Good things happen – We thank God. Bad things happen – We blame “Life” …

‘And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.”

LAST LINE : “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. – (Matt 6:24)

LIVE IS ALL ABOUT CHOICES AND THEIR CONSEQUENCES. I URGE EVERYONE TO CHOSE WELL 🙂

      • My happiness is not complete without God by my side. My Lord Jesus has been so good to me and my family. I have called upon their names countless times – in sickness, challenges, fear, financial stress, and many more – and part of the results are what I have made available in my blog.

I refuse to be an INGRATE and a DOUBTING THOMAS after all that my Lord Jesus has done for me and other testinonies I have read, heard and seen.

No human being, living or dead, can separate me from God. !!!

From the womb, I have introduced my kids to my Lord Jesus. My one-year-old daughter already knows how to clap for Jesus 🙂 That really makes me feel good.

I wish you the best Shaun. But I wished you could subscribe to my own kind of happiness – HAPPINESS SPICED UP WITH THE MERCY, GRACE AND UNCONDITIONAL LOVE OF GOD !!!

      • Michael, I can’t just “Be like you” you know?
I can’t force what you NEED at your side into my life.
I am not saying you are preaching to me here, but It will happen when I am happy to let it happen, if it ever happens.
Keep in mind, I speak DAILY on Skype with a Bishop who is VERY high up and sits at tables of power in the church. He helps me with my questions. And never judges or preaches, he is an amazing lad like yourself.
I truly appreciate your Words Michael, but you must understand, I can be your friend without God yes? If not, then what does that say about God? Do we only speak to people who are like minded? 🙂 I don’t think so. I told you I believe in God, I have BIG trouble with organised religion, and I have yet to believe what Jesus was said to have done. No amount of scripture on EARTH can help me. I need to believe it myself, If I start to believe because someone said so, I am lying to myself and God. So it has to come when it comes.
Also, I am a very happy person having the relationship with God I have. I speak with God, I pray and my prayers are answers. But I am still in pain. God can’t cure the world.
        As I asked before.
We thank God when good things happen.
But when Bad things happen “He works in Mysterious ways”
I have a problem with that.. lol.
We are friends yeah? We can discuss?
I am DELIGHTED you have and need God at your side. I am live and let live, each to their own. you know. But I am “Perhaps” happier than you without God at my side in the way you do..

Live and let live is a BIG thing. Once we all do this, the world WILL be a better place. Want to talk scripture?
PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS HERE..
        I researched this hard.
        http://prayingforoneday.wordpress.com/2013/07/05/jeremiah-2531-want-to-talk-god-and-scripture/
Do you have an opinion? Many do. Many think it is End Times. Do you. Read and listen to the noises before you reply. This is talking God. So please, lets get closer as friends and talk God and Scripture, you may help me yeah?
And I can’t blindly subscribe Michael. Fools do that. I am not one. One day, when I can see and believe, I will, perhaps.
I am a good man Michael, I do try to live with the 10 commandments in life, truly I do. But when people tell me I will go to hell still, that just puts me backwards and further away from God.
My Bishop friend Eddie believes people who say this are doing nothing to help people looking for God like you have found him. He believes people like yourself should show love compassion and help people find their path slowly with love and care.

Please give him a follow. I am pleading with you.
        http://bishoptatro.wordpress.com/
It would be great for perhaps the 3 of us to have an Audio Skype one night? Would you be open to this?

        God Bless
        Shaun

      • One thing that makes my Lord Jesus very special is the fact that HE IS NOT HUMAN, AND WOULD NEVER BE !!! Check these out…

        (1) My Lord Jesus mingled with everybody Shaun – the good the bad and ugly – Race, nationality, religion, language or education is no barrier for me in making friends Shaun…why?…

“When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”- Mark 2:17….

        (2) My Lord Jesus did not teach us to judge people Shaun, because we are all sinners and are not perfect… I WILL NEVER JUDGE YOU SHAUN !!!….

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; – (Rom 3:23)”

“So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” – (John 8:7)

“Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:” (Luke 8:37)

        (3) “No amount of scripture on EARTH can help me” – time will tell Shaun 🙂

        (4) “One day, when I can see and believe, I will, perhaps.” – That’s good news 🙂

        (5) As for the audio Skyping, that would be arranged.

        (6) I have followed the Bishop as you requested 🙂

        (7) “God can’t cure the world.” – I DISAGREE SHAUN !!!

      • Thank you again Michael..
        Number 7…
        The world is Dying Michael..
And it is people that are doing it..

I still don’t why an all loving God gave my 1 year old Nephew Leukemia, Please, why would God allow this. Please, a real answer, from you, no scripture. Why would god to this to a 12 month old baby? And several of the babies in the ward died, killing the soul of the Parents.

        Why..I am really asking mate.

        Thank you..
        God Bless

      • Hii Shaun. This is a very serious accusation. That means He gave every other sick baby or adult the sickness or disease that they had or have. Come on Shaun ! What makes you think such an evil thing about God?

IF you have a medically-proven evidence that the same God who did all the awesome things we know HIM for, can be so cruel to give your 1 year old nephew leukemia, then I will will give up following Him immediately. I want medically-proven evidence shaun.

However, since I know you will keep me waiting forever, I decided to seek for information about the disease your nephew has or had….

        This is what I found….http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Childhood_leukemia

I was also interested in knowing whether the THE GOD OF MIRACLES has visited any leukemia patient before. Check this out….

        http://divineintervention.typepad.com/divine_intervention/2010/01/episode-77-man-miraculously-healed-of-acute-myloid-leukemia-dave-hess.html

        Check this out too…

        http://www.cbn.com/700club/features/amazing/ethan_stacy042905.aspx

If you have any contrary information to back up your SERIOUS INSULT on God’s faultless personality, please educate us Shaun….

      • SERIOUS INSULT? Awww come on, open your eyes amd mind. People like you, put people like me off God and religion because you preach. You don’t love, you say I say serous insults. I asked a question GOD can’t answer, this is the ONLY issue here…You my friend need to stop being so blind and pushy with God. No loving God fearing man would get angry like you just did..What does it say about you that you got angry? That is not compassion…That is nasty and rude. I asked a question as someone who has NO idea, I am not like you, but you chase me a way with anger..Is this God? Anger?

Do you Seriously think this was my meaning. I am asking, why would God allow a kid under 1 year old to die..Easy question, So far to be fair my friend, you have dodged almost every question and threw scripture at me.
I can’t blindly follow something I don’t know exists. God I have a relationship with, Religion causes SOO much trouble, always has historically. Why can’t we all just believe in one God? And Jesus, I can’t believe he did what was said he did..I think he was a Ghandi type figure of his time. A good talker and thinker. None of us can prove this. We can guess, but that is all. There is no proof for God, but I do have a relationship with him. My friend Eddie, the Bishop will have a read at this and hopefully reply. He is fairly famous, met the pope etc…He sits at a HIGH table..His ways are 100% different from yours. You push your will onto people..why?
I do however 100% respect your views.
I only ask you answer my questions in order to help me..

Have a good weekend my friend..

        Shaun

      • Hello Shaun. I am very sorry if my words appeared the way you described them. I am very sorry indeed. It was not intended. That was my own judgement of you saying God is responsible for you nephew’s illness.

As for preaching, there is nothing wrong with that. Jesus did it and urged us to do it. But he NEVER forced anyone to accept what He said. In sharing my posts, I have never used the words MUST. I only share and allow my readers to make their decisions. Please read my “About Me And My Blog” page. So your statement “You push your will onto people..” is not fair on me.

I respect your choices. I have not forced mine on you. I was only trying to help, in some instances, upon your requests. Sadly, you took it as “You push your will onto people..” If that is how they appeared, forgive me for that and ignore all my words. I also believe a lot in “live and let live.”

I only answered your questions based on the information I have and my relationship with God. I cannot fabricate my answer or give you an answer just to please you Shaun. So your statement “So far to be fair my friend, you have dodged almost every question and threw scripture at me” is not true and not fair on me.

As for my Lord Jesus, He is the Son of God who has done a lot for me. I don’t need any historical or scientific proof. Right in my life and in the life of my family members and in everything that concerns us, he has been awesome ! Again, this is my PERSONAL position.

Once more forgive me if my words hurts.

I must confess, our conversion has been a learning experience for me…a worthwhile one too 🙂

Have a good weekend too 🙂

      • It is ok mate 🙂
We both learn. Many of the BEST friend I have today were born from debate like this. I think realising and accepting our differences, not bad differences is key. I respect your ways 100% and I hope you mine. You are a good man Michael, really you are. But I just felt you were being preachy you know. I ask you read this http://deliberatedonkey.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/murder-and-more-through-the-eyes-of-a-child/

I come from a different culture and a family (I do avoid who are still criminals of the HIGHEST ORDER) who are still bad…

I am trying to break free and I think I have. It has bee hard, but still a long way to go. 1st thing I done was lose anger.

Thanks for the reply buddy, we are good my friend

      • I just read your post Shaun! It is absolutely thought-provoking for everyone – parents, singles and children alike !!! Woww !!!

As I read this movie-like story, I went down memory lane…..https://justmikemon.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/parental-bullying/

I specifically thought of my late dad…..https://justmikemon.wordpress.com/2013/02/19/papa-was-not-a-rolling-stone/

I guess parents will find Shaun’s post absolutely useful…just like mine…..https://justmikemon.wordpress.com/2013/03/18/what-are-we-teaching-our-children/

        Check this out too…https://justmikemon.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/the-arduous-task-of-parenting-in-the-21st-century/

Thanks for sharing this “earth-moving” story Shaun. I am going to it read again. But this time, much more slowly…
