Commit Your Ways Into The Hands Of The Lord…

mediflip god

Hi pal. It’s been a while I shared my thoughts 🙂 I hope you are doing well?

About three weeks ago, I went to the bank to get some cash. As I approached the gate, I heard “praise and worship” going on behind the gate house. I wondered who could be doing that as I have NEVER seen or heard where such a thing took place in a bank or highbrow organisation before. That however excludes my place of work. We rely so much on God and it has really paid off.

As I stepped in and walked pass the gatehouse, I discovered that it was actually being done by the security officials of the bank. I felt really touched, not only because it was very uncommon, but because their praise and worship acknowledged one of my strongest beliefs….

Except God watches over a city,

the watchman waketh but in vain (Psa 127:1)

My interpretation of what they were doing was simply committing their ways into the ever reliable care and protection of the Lord. They were simply telling God that indeed, the protection of the bank was actually within God’s powers and not theirs. They knew very well that it will take robbers very little effort to render them “useless” in the security job that they were supposed to be doing. Like David, they thought it wise to confront the challenges, risks and dangers associated with their job with an attitude and mind set of….

If God be for you,

who can be against you? (Rom 8:31)

And just like Solomon, they asked God for help and wisdom (1 Kings 3) in the discharge of their duties. As God lives, JEHOVAH GOD who sees their needy hearts will sure live up to their expectations in Jesus name, and would also encourage (and continue to encourage) other people to rely and trust in Him.

Some people belief and trust so much on their abilities, judgments and the ways, thoughts, help and pronouncements of man. Well, different strokes for different folks. I used to, but now, I know better. As they say “experience is the best teacher.” For me, my morning is not complete without praying to God and asking Him to take FULL CONTROL of all my undertakings of the day, and those of my family. This prayer always soothes my nerves, assures me and really works like a GENERAL INSURANCE POLICY for me 🙂

Committing one’s ways into His hands is a sign of total submission to His all-knowing abilities, flawless decisions and unmatchable power. One is simply saying “LORD, I AM COUNTING ON YOU.” And I trust Him. At the end, you will have testimonies to share, as I have been doing on my blog, and will continue to do.

So, is it family or relationship issues, career issues, job change, relocation, choice of business/location, security, oppression from anyone?….Name it. GOD will turn them all into testimonies for you. Just commit all your always to God in prayer and see the outcome 🙂

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.(Isaiah 55:8)

Therefore brother/sister….

Cast thy burden upon the LORD,

and he shall sustain thee:

he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.(Psa 55:22)

The taste of the pudding is in the eating 🙂

Thanks for your time and GOD bless you….and me too 🙂

An Open Letter To God Almighty….

Image of GraceIf my daughter could write a letter, this is what she would have written…..

My heavenly father,

I cannot think of a more appropriate way to start my letter to you than to say that you are exactly what my daddy said about you – that you are an AWESOMELY MAGNANIMOUS AND POWERFUL GOD !!!

This has played out in my life for the past eleven months that I have been in this world. It’s been eleven months of your amazing grace. My daddy told me that he gave me the name Grace to constantly remind you of how grateful he was to you.

However, last Monday morning, my family was thrown into sadness when I suddenly took ill. My temperature rose so high that the nurse said it was capable of leading to a convulsion. I coughed in a way I have never had before. I could not sleep all through the night. My mum and dad stayed awake too. I did not have the strength to eat, play, scatter the house..Oh sorry…re-arrange the house 🙂 ….or yell out any body’s name as I used to. I could not dance to every music I heard as I used to. I could not even smile as I used to. It was too much for an eleven month old baby. My parents were told I had infection and malaria.

While all these lasted my daddy prayed for me continuously. According to him, doctors and nurses take care of people, while you do the healing. He said many babies of my age and older people have died in the best hospitals across the world, over very minor circumstances. He kept whispering into my ears “GOD WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.” He said this all the time.

King of Kings and Lords of Lords, my daddy was right !!!! I am perfectly healed today. In fact, I started gaining back my normal self yesterday. I am back to ‘’business.”  🙂 Now I can do all the things I am known for. I was so strong to drag my mum off the seat yesterday 🙂

One thing I have learnt from this experience is that, some times in life, things can go wrong. When they do, I will always pray to you and say to myself “GOD WILL SEE ME THROUGH.” And I know you will, because my dad said you are the same, yesterday, today and forever 🙂

Dear father, thanks a lot for healing me. Thanks a lot for sparing my life. Thanks a lot for all you have done for me and my family. I know you will surely give me a blissful first birthday next month 🙂 Thank you so much in advance Dear Lord 🙂 Indeed you are an AWESOMELY MAGNANIMOUS GOD AND POWERFUL GOD!!!

I will forever seek and stick to you 🙂

Your Princess,

Grace 🙂

The awesome and privileged gift of a new day

The Power In “By God’s Grace” and “God willing”

Two days ago, I concluded with my younger brother to pay them a visit with my family the next day (yesterday). I did not really pray about it. All I kept saying anytime the issue came up was “by the grace of God.” And then came yesterday. We started preparation. As soon as we were ready to leave, belief or not, a thick cloud gathered. While I was still surprised at the suddeness, a terrible sand storm followed. And then the rain came pouring. I called my brother to tell him of the development. He said there were no such things over there. The down pour continued for about four hours. Around 2pm when it certain that we would not be able to make the journey, …. guess what? The rain stopped !!! Unbeliefable !!!

As someone who ALWAYS prefers God to have His way in all I do; and because of my short prayers, I simply said: “God understands…may His wiil be done.”

Consider this : a man leaves for work in the morning and greets his family “bye bye. See you in the evening.” Unknown to him, he just said his last “bye bye” to his family. He hits the road and later died in an auto accident.

Consider this too: a woman admires her adorable son and says “my son, soon you will be in high school. Woww! How time flies.” The son later falls ill and…dies !

I do not want to bore you with the countless pronouncements that we make on a daily basis. Most of it are usually made without due consideration for this popular saying : man proposes and God disposes. Most of them are made with subtle arrogance. Consider this : “by this time next year I will be a millionaire.” Someone might call it self confidence or positive thinking. Tell me : what can self confidence and positive thinking bring if God says “NO !!!”

Over the years, two short prayers have become a way of life for me : “by God’s grace” and “God willing.” Consider this : “by the grace of God, by this time next year, I will be a millionaire.” Though simply said, you have done two things – you have simply told God that you are counting on Him for the millions and you have indirectly begged God to spare your life till that time.”

Consider this too : “Bye my love. God willing, I will take you out when I come back from work.” Here, you are not only counting on God to grant you journey mercies, but to also watch over you and and your loved ones till you return.” All centered on two words – God willing !!!

If you are not bored, consider this : “God willing, I will get that job at the bank.” Here, you have simply asked God our all-knowing God to decide if the job is good for you and to help you get the job. As simple as the prayer sounds, it is far-reaching.

So my friend, join me in always saying “God willing” and “by God’s grace” – they are two of the most powerful short prayers that I can recommend to anyone.

See what God’s Book says about this : “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.” (James 4:13-17)

Also reflect on these:

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” (Psa 37:5)

“Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.” (1 Sam 2:3)

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Prov 14:12)

Thanks for your time.

When You Seek Help From Man…

Its been a long time I sat down to watch a movie at home. Today, I was very busy as usual while my family was watching a Nigerian movie. I did not really pay attention to the film until when I heard some ladies, who were so desperate to “catch” and marry rich white men, plan to go and seek the help of a Spiritualist when things went awry among them.

Just as I expected, they would be helped, but at a price. They were asked to bring the under pants of the white guys, a 3 months old baby, vulture’s egg, an unused lip stick and one hundred thousand naira cash ( about $640 ), among others.

As the spiritualist was mentioning all the things they had to bring, I was just wondering why they prefered to spend so much to get help; and worse still, why they would prefer to spill the blood of an innocent 3 month old baby, when God almighty will not ask for a dime to give them all they wanted and much more.

Even though it was a film, it was a reflection of what is going on in our societies, globally, today.

Just as expected, their rituals back fired big time! Misery, sorrow, illness, insanity and regrets became their “friends.” This happens in the real world on per second basis everyday.

All over the world, people run after man for help for wealth, positions, fruit of the womb, acquisition of properties, luck, success, security and much more – all in the name of “God is too slow” or “I am not the first to do it” or perhaps out of lack of belief in God. And sometimes, they result from the strong persuasion of friends and/or family members.

Most often than not, these people eventually have their “granted requets” spiced up with sorrow and regrets. In some cases, they have to carry “burdens” for the rest of their lifes, if their “granted request” is to continue to have potency or is to be sustained. Also common are many “dos” and “donts.”

When the burden becomes too hard to bear any further, the next thing that happens is that they start running to God for help – the same God that they relegated to the background in their moment of desperation. Pastors are also put through the arduous task of carrying out deliverance service(s) or days of fasting and prayers for such people, that is, if it is not too late.

Psalm 118: 8-9 says : “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in prince.”

The good news is that God is awesomely magnanimous and merciful. 2 Chron 6:14 ) says : “…there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts.”

However, for those of us who have chosen to always go to God with for all our heart desires, the good news is that “the Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.” (Lamen 3:25-26).

We will wait for as long as it takes because “the blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. ( Prov 10:22).

This is the kind of blessing I wish myself, my family, my friends and you, because …

“he, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.[s]” (Prov 29:1).

Thanks for your time.

Morning Story and Dilbert

The year was 1994, and my wife was terminally ill with cancer. She needed a last-hope operation. No, the operation would not save her life, but possibly extend it. The operation was dangerous, cutting off blood supply to part of the liver, killing part of the liver and the cancer that lived there.

Before I took my sweet love to the hospital, I fasted and prayed. I prayed not for her to get well, but for God’s will to be done and to give me the strength to do what I must.

The operation was a success, however, my wife did not wake up as she should have. A day passed, then two… And five days later she still had not awakened. Add to this that she required dialysis on a daily basis because of organ shutdown. I had prayed before I took her to the hospital and received a…

Truly, GOD Answers Prayers !!!

Pastor E.A. Adeboye, General Overseer, RCCG.

Saturday, 16th March 2013, will for ever be a day to remember for a colleague of mine. That was the day God, in His infinite wisdom and magnanimity decided to make her the happiest woman in the world, by making her a mother….after waiting on God for……wait for it…….nine years !!! Wowwww !!! I can imagine the feeling. I can imagine the way she smiles now. I can imagine how the new father feels. I can also imagine how they now see God.

One thing that is hard to explain is why GOD does things the way and time He does them. But what I don’t need any Pastor to tell me is that TRULY,  GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS !!! Its really encouraging for me because she is the third person I will talk to God about concerning the fruit of the womb, and God did not make me, and every other person who wished her God’s mercies, to be put to shame.

So, to GOD be all the glory for His mercies for allowing fertilisation to take place, for seeing her through during the pregnancy, delivery and post delivery. Glory be to God for the angelic gift of a boy that ended the nine months journey. May His mercies and grace continue to shine upon her, the baby ad the husband. May the Lord be a father to the baby in all respects.

Are you waiting on God for something? Be patient. Is it not better to wait on God for ever than to run after the devil and his disciples?  Hold on tight to God. It is worth it because (Prov 10:22 says) : “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

Put Him to remembrance all the time.  Isaiah 43:26 says : “Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.”

Do not listen to discouraging stories. Do not be moved by discouraging scenes. No matter how hopeless the situation might be “….. with God nothing shall be impossible” (Luke 1:37).  The Israelites (Exodus 14) were completely hopeless at the Red Sea. But God shocked them all when  “…the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me?  Tell the people of Israel to go forward.” (Exodus 14:15). It sounds really stupid. Isn’t it?  But, as by GOD,  ” Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.”

God is awesome !!! For me and my household, the taste of the pudding is in the eating. It is either GOD or GOD. Are you waiting on Him for anything ? Do you know someone who is ? I have a message from from GOD to you (or the person) :

“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will  seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Thanks for your time and CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs Itunu Ashogbon and family.

Have you ever been annoyed with God before because of one setback or the other?

Recently, my finances was not in a good shape. I needed to implement some plans that needed huge financial outlay. As I hit the road, I saw this physically deformed man who was begging to survive. He looked very hungry and unkept. But there I was wearing a nice pair of jeans, t-shirt and a pair of trainers, with a nice perfume. I had a nice breakfast of yam and fried eggs/tomatoes…reasonable cash in my pocket and just left my comfortable family behind at home.

As I saw him, I felt this guilt that forced me to start thanking God and beg for forgiveness for feeling so bad and complaining because of a temporary set back. Even in his condition, the beggar was still praying and acknowledging God (please don’t ask me how sincere he was with his prayers 🙂 ).

Actually, this kind of scenario has popped up a number of times – feel bad, complain to God, only to see someone who is obviously in a worse situation singing praises to God. Then guilt takes over.

One fact is indisputable – in every situation we find ourselves there is always some body out there who is in a worse situation. It boils down to the fact that at any point in time there is always soooo much to thank God for.

No doubt an unemployed man is certainly better than an unemployable person; the man who has just lost his job could become an employer tomorrow  a barren woman is certainly better than the one that has passed away; a man without shoes is certainly better than the man without legs; the man without legs says he is better than the man in the grave; the man who could not afford breakfast has hopes that food will come if he makes some efforts. He tells you it is better than being in the prison where he has no freedom of movement; the woman who lost her child at the point of delivery is better than the one who died during child birth…. there is sooo much to thank God for !!

A song writer once sang “count your blessings; name them one by one. Count your blessings, see what God has done. Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.”

This was one of the songs I heard last Sunday in Church, and I thought of sharing a post on it on my blog.

So, one more time, I just want to say a big thank you to God almighty for all He has done, is doing and would do for me and my family….and you too. I pray He forgives us for all the complains that made us appear like ingrates.

So, count your blessings … and really, you will be surprised to know that God has done a lot ….

“Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.” -(1 Chron 16:8-9)

God bless us all.

Black Women Unchecked

It is a beautiful day. The sun is shining and I am feeling good. Real good. That is until I read a text saying “Have you seen this shit The Onion tweeted?” I raise a quizzical eyebrow and proceed to discover the latest foolishness that finds its home on Twitter. I was thinking maybe it was some more Harlem Shake responses or perhaps Lisa Lampanelli was vomiting out of her mouth again; all likely possibilities.

Alas, the question posed was actually referring to a vulgar epithet hurled at youngest ever Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis. According to Buzzfeed, The Onion decided to tweet this:

Buzzfeed reported that after being up for an hour and receiving a mass backlash, The Onion removed the tweet. However, what is written on Twitter can never be fully erased, as is apparent in this image above. And as I stare at the 17-word tweet, it amazes…

The Awesome And Privileged Gift Of A New Day

Its a new day. A new opportunity to right our wrongs of past days. Its another day added to our life  Today, we have hopes that our sweet dreams and unanswered prayers will yield shouts of joy. This has been the case from the day of our birth till this morning – day in day out.

Sadly, not all those who slept yesterday woke up this morning. They cannot do or hope for anything any more. All hopes have been dashed. They peacefully slept their last sleep.

One thing is certain – we are not enjoying the fruits of our good deeds. Neither is the security we have put around us responsible. The truth is that God just decided to shower us with His amazing grace and mercies, for reasons best known to Him. Why? I am not bothered. I don’t think you are too. But I would rather chose to say thanks a lot to God almighty for His AWESOME MAGNANIMITY towards me, my family, my friends and you….

What about you ?….

The Transient Nature Of Power

At twenty six, I tasted power, not the type I had when I was a prefect in my school though. I was the Manager of a technical services company somewhere in Lagos, Nigeria. Interestingly, all the members of staff were older than I was, except the junior technicians. In fact, the driver who was assigned to my office was old enough to be my granddad. My secretary was also older than I was. Sincerely speaking, I was not too sure if I would be able to operate effectively and efficiently.  To me, I saw it as a test to prepare me for greater challenges later in life.

Image of GracePOWER IS TRANSIENT!!! Those were the words that God constantly whispered into my willing hears.      A day will come when I will not be able to exercise the powers I had. So, wisdom required that I threaded with caution. Wisdom required that I remember that someday that power may come to an end; and that there was another world outside the company where I called the shots. That day actually came. The company swam into troubled waters and I had to leave. Of course you know what happened to my powers.

My first post-departure contact with my former driver was actually a time to receive my ’’report card’’ of how I faired while in office. It was a very wonderful   experience and re-union. In all modesty, the voice of God that guided me made me ‘’pass.’’

Again, presently I hold offices where I am supervising the work of people who are far older than I am and even with better academic qualifications. Well, now I don’t need the voice of God again. I am fully aware that indeed POWER IS TRANSIENT.

I am of the very strong opinion that power comes from God and we have to be very careful how we make use of it. He gives and takes without permission. He has the power to toy with the heart of whoever he desires. He swaps positions in seconds. In giving or taking power, size, experience, education, colour, height, weight or beauty means nothing to him.

Power is seemingly deceitful. It closes the eyes of the unwise to all of these. It makes one think it will last forever. It makes one see every other person as lesser human beings. It blinds you to the fact that your subordinate could become your boss in the next five minutes or less. What will happen if the subordinate suddenly becomes the boss? What will he do to his former boss? Well this is a question anyone in power should be asking himself regularly.

However, it’s so sad that some leaders and privileged people do not share in this reality. Or perhaps they see it more convenient to ignore it. In the offices, in the homes and in public sphere, the transient nature of power is played down.

I have learnt a strong lesson in my journey through life : no matter how powerful  or privileged you might be, the only permanent power is that of God; and He is watching how we are using what He gave to us. And one day it will be time for us  to get what we deserve – good or bad.

So remember, use your power and privilege wisely because, truly POWER IS TRANSIENT !!!
