A Little Kindness Can Go A Very Long Way…

kindnessA  poor boy who was begging from door to door to feed his hungry stomach, decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his confidence when a lovely young girl opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a glass of water .

The girl saw that he looked hungry. So she brought him a large glass of  milk . He drank it slowly and asked thereafter “how much do I owe you?” “You don’t owe me  anything” she replied. “Mother has told us never to accept paymemt for kindness.” Then he said , “then I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Years later, that girl (now a woman) became critically ill and the local doctors tried their possible best to save her life but they couldn’t cure her. They finally sent her to the big city where specialist studied her rare illness. Dr Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town where she came from, a strange light filled his eyes immediately. He rose and went down to her room. He recognised her at once. He went back to the consultation room, determined to do his best to save her life.

From that day, he gave special attention to the case. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it , then wrote something on the bill and it was sent to her room.

The woman feared opening it because she was sure it might take the rest of her life savings to pay for it. Finally she looked and noticed something was written at the edge of the note : “paid in full with a glass of milk.” Tears filled her eyes as she immediately remembered.

Every form of kindness we show is never in vain. It reproduces itself. Sometimes, it may not necessarily be before our eyes, but it always does.

I have been kind to you by sharing this story. It is good to be kind. Put a smile on someone’s face today by sharing the story.

GOD bless us all.

All That Glitters Is Not Gold…

Collins is a very hard-working young man in his early thirties. He had a job which can be described as a good one in terms of the major parameters for assessing a job – good salary, prospects for growth, good welfare schemes among others. In search of greener pastures, he resigned from his job for another because of the mouth-watering offers that came with the new job – a car, better salary, foreign training and accommodation among others. Not too long after resumption, he gets to discover that there were some things about the new job which were not revealed to him – most of which would have made him turn down the job if he was told from the onset. But sadly, it was too late to go back to his former job. What followed can be described as a nightmare !

Jennifer is a very pretty lady. She has everything going for her – good job, a good family background and a good education. Then came John, an equally handsome young man with a good job too. John was a smooth talker who would make any girl to fall for him. John appeared like a saint. He had money to spend and give Jenifer a good time. His charming looks complimented his “good looking purse.” It was not too long that Jennifer realised that John was not just a married man, but had five children from three women. She also got to know that John was a drug Lord who was playing a hide and seek game with the cops !

Edwin, is a handsome and well-nurtured young man in his thirties.  With a good job and good looks, he had always believed that he could have any lady at his beck and call. He had a very humble and well-mannered lady for a fiancee. Even though she was not too pretty, she was the kind of lady a man would want to have as a life-time partner – humble, peaceful, respectful, hardworking, loving, caring, submissive and what have you. Two months to their wedding day, Edwin dropped a bomb – he could not go ahead with the planned wedding !!! Soon, it was discovered that the reason behind his action was because of a fair skinned beautiful lady that he had been dating for months. However, Edwin got the greatest shock of life when he got to know that the lady he had been having an affair with, and who was two months pregnant for him, was actually his step-sister whom his father abandoned from birth, together with her mother without the knowledge of Edwin’s mother !

McDonald, is a promising Nigerian Painter.  He is happily married with two kids. He gave his family a good life with  his business, with the support of his hard-working wife. Soon, his friend convinced him into taking taking part in a deal that would have fetched them a lot of money running into millions of Naira (Nigerian currency). McDonald fell for it. Things went messy. They were picked up by the police. McDonald and his friend are serving jail sentences. His family is in a very bad situation !

The United States of America is a beautiful country with the good things of life reasonably available for majority of her citizens and residents. This lured Tunde, a Nigerian, who was doing very well in his trading business – a good home, a car and a good bank account – to abandon his country with documents whose authenticity was in doubt. He was convinced by his friend that all his papers would be formalised when they get to the USA. With his eyes and mind on the USA, Tunde beat all the odds and got to America with his friend. Not too long after they arrived Tunde became a fugitive – always on the run from the cops for having fake travelling papers. After, two years of hiding in very odd places, Tunde was finally arrested and deported – to start life all over again in Nigeria !

Good things are good. They are desired by all, including my humble self.  But in desiring for them, wisdom, reasoning, and of course, prayers is needed. Collins, Jennifer, McDonald, Tunde and Edwin have one thing in common – they leaped before looking; or should I say they refused to look before leaping because they were convinced that all that glitters is gold !!!

A word is enough for the wise. Wishing you and me a regret-free weekend 🙂

Best Wishes To One Of The Greatest Leaders On Earth….NELSON “Madiba” MANDELA

“I have fought against white domination, and I have fought

against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic

and free society in which all persons will live together in harmony

with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for, and to

see realised. But my Lord, if needs be, it is an ideal for which I

am prepared to die.” – Nelson Mandela (1964)

God bless and care for you more Madiba. God bless your family too for the sacrifice they have been through in your days of struggle for equity and justice for your people, and by extension, the people of the world.

I hope that some day, and I hope it won’t be too long, that leaders across the world will learn from your service to mankind.

I join the people of the world to wish you God’s health and best wishes 🙂

Blaming God For Our Setbacks….

church-Prayer.jpg“Can a doctor force himself on a patient who

does NOT believe in him or does not seek his help?”

I have once lived a life of ignorance – a life of not knowing the reasons why things were happening to me the way I did not want them to and what I should do to “rescue” myself. Then, I was like a feather being tossed to and fro. To me then, every bad thing that happened to me was the hand work of God and His fault. To me, God MUST take care of me, no matter what. So, I blamed God for all the unpleasant things that happened to me. My sins were immaterial and whether I prayed or not was immaterial. Whether I was a child of God was also immaterial. God was supposed to  know when I needed help, and He should have helped me out. I relied so much on God’s amazing grace. So, GOD must be blamed for all the bad things that happened to me.

Now I know better. Now I  know God is not wicked. Now I know that even with His grace, I had to ask GOD to step into my problems whenever they reared their disgusting head….

“Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake.  And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell asleep:and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying,Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one  to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” (Luke 8:22-25)

Then I asked “what would have happened if our Lord was not called upon to intervene. Someone would have asked: “how come Jesus did not know that a ship wreck was about to occur?” Another would have asked: “did the disciples need to call upon our Lord Jesus to avert the impending disaster? Yet another would have asked: “are the disciples supposed to have problems with Jesus in the ship?”  A typical question people ask these days.

Hmnnn…What I learnt from this is simple…

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;

knock and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;

and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matt 7:7)

Sadly, this tend to be our attitude – being so quick to point accusing fingers towards God at the slightest setback we suffer. In fact, the interesting aspect of it all is that those who have openly rejected God are even faster to make this accusation.

I have also come to terms with the fact that these accusations are also the result of  not being aware of some of the principles of prayers which I shared in my post “God does not answer prayers!!!???”

One thing that is common among human beings is that it is convenient to shift blames rather than identify the route cause of problems. One big mistake however, that I feel a human being can make is to ascribe INCOMPETENCE, INABILITY, FORGETFULNESS, WEAKNESS, LOSS OF POTENCY or LIES to God !!!

Yes, there may be delays, but the delays are never because of INCOMPETENCE, INABILITY, FORGETFULNESS, WEAKNESS, LOSS OF POTENCY or because he has started telling LIES !!! …..

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time,

but at the end it shall speak,

and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it;

because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”- (Hab 2:3)

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man,

that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it?

or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” – Num 23:19

Thus, in all cases, a self-searching is needed. The refusal to do this, subjects people to the antics and wickedness of the devil  and his disciples. However, some people, including my humble self,  have refused to allow the devil to use them like a ping pong ball or toss them around like feathers.

So, pal, I leave you with this testimony that I love a lot….

“And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years,

came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

For she said within herself, ‘If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.’

But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter,

be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.

And the woman was made whole from that hour.” (Matt 9: 19-22)

So, pray without ceasing; do not be tied; the battle is only lost when you give up hope and do nothing; discover the barriers to answered prayers so that you can be a strong prayer warrior; read and strengthen yourself with testimonies of the power of GODbe comforted by the extra ordinary display of God’s power at the Red Sea; shun views that tend to discourage you from getting closer to God, read your Bible as much as you can and discover the secrets of a sweet relationship with God….but in all, and most importantly, STOP BLAMING GOD !!!

God bless us all an thanks for your time

How Time Flies…

Its July !!! How time flies…. I still remember very freshly, greeting my pals “happy new year.” It’s just like yesterday. But the reality is that six irrecoverable months have passed us by.

In six months, a lot has happened – the good, the bad and the ugly – in homes, hospitals, cities and globally. For me and my family, God has been very caring, merciful and magnanimous. Why? Who am I to question His actions? But I remain eternally grateful. Thanks a lot daddy 🙂

No doubt, I still have pending requests before Him. But I refuse to be an ingrate over all He has done so far. However, I have plenty of hope that I have countless testimonies to share with you before the year runs out. This is not based on “positive thinking,” as some people will chose to call it, but based on the conviction that my awesome God will forever remain GOD !!! As you know, “the taste of the pudding is in the eating.” So, if you are watching this “pudding” from a distance, come close and have some…there is more than enough to go round – it’s free, reliable and not like the one served by man 🙂

Glory be to God for all His mercy, grace, protection, favour, provision, forgiveness of sins and magnanimity over me and my family….and over you too 🙂

Happy second half of 2013 pals 🙂
