The Power In “By God’s Grace” and “God willing”

Two days ago, I concluded with my younger brother to pay them a visit with my family the next day (yesterday). I did not really pray about it. All I kept saying anytime the issue came up was “by the grace of God.” And then came yesterday. We started preparation. As soon as we were ready to leave, belief or not, a thick cloud gathered. While I was still surprised at the suddeness, a terrible sand storm followed. And then the rain came pouring. I called my brother to tell him of the development. He said there were no such things over there. The down pour continued for about four hours. Around 2pm when it certain that we would not be able to make the journey, …. guess what? The rain stopped !!! Unbeliefable !!!

As someone who ALWAYS prefers God to have His way in all I do; and because of my short prayers, I simply said: “God understands…may His wiil be done.”

Consider this : a man leaves for work in the morning and greets his family “bye bye. See you in the evening.” Unknown to him, he just said his last “bye bye” to his family. He hits the road and later died in an auto accident.

Consider this too: a woman admires her adorable son and says “my son, soon you will be in high school. Woww! How time flies.” The son later falls ill and…dies !

I do not want to bore you with the countless pronouncements that we make on a daily basis. Most of it are usually made without due consideration for this popular saying : man proposes and God disposes. Most of them are made with subtle arrogance. Consider this : “by this time next year I will be a millionaire.” Someone might call it self confidence or positive thinking. Tell me : what can self confidence and positive thinking bring if God says “NO !!!”

Over the years, two short prayers have become a way of life for me : “by God’s grace” and “God willing.” Consider this : “by the grace of God, by this time next year, I will be a millionaire.” Though simply said, you have done two things – you have simply told God that you are counting on Him for the millions and you have indirectly begged God to spare your life till that time.”

Consider this too : “Bye my love. God willing, I will take you out when I come back from work.” Here, you are not only counting on God to grant you journey mercies, but to also watch over you and and your loved ones till you return.” All centered on two words – God willing !!!

If you are not bored, consider this : “God willing, I will get that job at the bank.” Here, you have simply asked God our all-knowing God to decide if the job is good for you and to help you get the job. As simple as the prayer sounds, it is far-reaching.

So my friend, join me in always saying “God willing” and “by God’s grace” – they are two of the most powerful short prayers that I can recommend to anyone.

See what God’s Book says about this : “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.” (James 4:13-17)

Also reflect on these:

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” (Psa 37:5)

“Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.” (1 Sam 2:3)

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Prov 14:12)

GOD IS GOOD !!!

Thanks for your time.
